Letters of General Grant to General Sheridan, 1864-1865.

6 handwritten letters from Grant to Sheridan written from February 1864 through April 1865 telling him of war news and advising him on actions to be taken. 1 letter each to: W.J. Stevens, telling him that he is revoking earlier orders disabling him from government employ and finds him capable for General Supt. of military railroads; Lt. Colonel Bowers asking him to give his regards to the Secretary of War and tell him they would have taken Petersburg sooner if not for the rain; and George Peters thanking him for the favor and the horse equipment, a mark of approval for his part in restoring peace.
